Three-week workshops were held in Bishkek from July 16 till August 5, 2007. It included 3 parts:
- 1.Workshop on development of research skills. Instructor – Gary Martin, Director of the Global Diversity Foundation.
- 2.Workshop on developing place-based writing skills. Instructor – Anthony Sattin, a writer, member of the Royal Geographical Society (Great Britain).
- 3.Training on photography: landscapes, portraits and reportage. Instructors: art-photographers Alexander Feodorov and Alimjan Jorobaev, A&A Studio (Kyrgyzstan).
All workshops were aimed to help participants – teachers and students interested in research on the intersection of ecology and culture, studying interconnectedness of human life activities with surrounding nature.
Workshops included theoretical and practical parts. Theoretical part included lectures and presentations. Practical part included out-door and place-based classes, trips outside of the town. Participants were practicing their new skills, developed and presented designs of their small research projects aimed at practicing their new knowledge in educational and research fields.
